Meet Chef Kayo Akiyama!
Chef Kayo Akiyama prepares her pastry with soul and style. A Japanese native, with experience in France, United Kingdom, UAE and Japan. Hailing from the St Regis Abu Dhabi before joining The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, Chef Kayo brings her unique style of baking, a mix of her ethnicity and journey making every dessert she plates, a delight.
Chef Kayo has worked with some of the most prestigious brands, elevating at the same time her skills and receiving awards such as “Hotelympia Salon” in London in 2002 and “Dessert of the year”, also in the UK. It was here where she was able to study languages after having a change of heart in becoming a doctor in Japan. Tasting one simple cake in Pierre Hermé during a visit to France made her fall in love with pastry and was the inspiration for her to become who she is now. A graduate from Le Cordon Bleu in London in 1996, Chef Kayo is also passionate about fine wine and bird"s observation.
